We headed to Granada, Spain in the province of Andalucia (Enchanted reference is for this, If you don't get it, don't feel bad. Obscure)
We are staying at a couple's house from the US. They are an awesome couple who Rosalie will be staying with for a few weeks before her return to Barca. This is our final stop together.
When we arrived, we went up to a place called Mirador de San Nicolas which gives an awesome view of the whole city and the Alhambra (more on that later). The terrain of Granada is unlike any we have seen yet. On one side of the city, you can see rolling hills off in the distance, you can see a vineyard and farmland also. Then you see all the buildings, most of them with white walls and brown roofs, and then on the hill across the small river is the Alhambra, and behind that you can see snow capped mountains. We spent the day around the city weaving in and out of the small streets around the city centre.
The next day we made our way to the Alhambra. This is an old castle that was built in the 800s and rebuilt by the moorish king in the 11th century. The design and architecture is very intricate and the history surrounding the place makes me 100% sure that the next Indiana Jones movie should use that as a major part of it's story line (Attention! George Lucas and Stephen Spielberg!)
For lunch that day, we ate at a Chawarma place. It was cool because the inside was decorated in the same style as Alhambra.
The next night, we went to see some Flamenco! Flamenco is a musical style including a very technically complex form of guitar playing and accompanied by singing, cajon, dancing and clapping. It was great fun! Everyone in the restaurant gets into it and claps along adding to the atmosphere.
This morning, I left early saying goodbye to Rosalie, and headed for a long day of travelling. I took a bus from Granada to Madrid and then got on a plane and flew to Lisbon.
